Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) is an American comic book and media franchise that follows four mutant turtles trained in ninja arts, known for their fight against evil and love of pizza.

TMNT was created in 1984 by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird as a parody of the superhero and ninja genres. The four turtles— Leonardo , Donatello , Raphael , and Michelangelo —were named after Renaissance painters and trained by their rat sensei Splinter in the sewers beneath New York City. Together, they battle enemies such as the Shredder , Krang , and the Foot Clan .

The franchise has evolved through several generations:

  • Comics : Started as a dark and violent series, but was later adapted for younger audiences.

  • TV series : The first animated series came out in 1987 and was a huge success. New versions followed in 2003, 2012 and 2023.

  • Films : Several live-action and animated films, including Mutant Mayhem (2023), which received praise for its style and humor.

  • Games and Toys : TMNT has been a major part of pop culture with arcade games, action figures, and trading cards – including an upcoming Magic: The Gathering edition.

In 2024, a new animated series called Legend of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be launched on Paramount+, continuing the adventures with new enemies and challenges.

TMNT combines action, humor and brotherhood, and has been a favorite among children and adults alike for over 40 years.
