PlayStation is a series of game consoles from Sony, launched in 1994, and has since become one of the world's most popular video game platforms.

PlayStation was developed by Sony Computer Entertainment , starting with the original PlayStation (PS1), which revolutionized the gaming world with CD-based technology and 3D graphics. Since then, several generations have followed:

  • PlayStation 2 (2000) – the world's best-selling console with over 150 million units sold

  • PlayStation 3 (2006/2007) – introduced Blu-ray and online gaming services

  • PlayStation 4 (2013) – was a huge success with powerful hardware and a wide range of games

  • PlayStation 5 (2020) – offers lightning-fast SSD, ray tracing and support for 4K resolution

PlayStation has also developed PlayStation Network , a digital platform for downloading games, movies, and online gaming, as well as PlayStation Plus , a subscription service with monthly free games and exclusive discounts.

The consoles have been home to iconic game franchises such as God of War , Uncharted , Gran Turismo , The Last of Us and Spider-Man . In addition, PlayStation has invested in VR technology with PlayStation VR , expanding the universe with accessories and streaming services.
